One victim has been taken to the hospital in unknown condition. A shooting shut down part of the Las Vegas Strip near the Cosmopolitan and the Paris Hotel Casino. The suspect is barricaded on a bus, and tactical teams and negotiators are on the scene on Las Vegas Boulevard. It said around 50 people were on the bus that was traveling from Austin, Texas, when it was hit. More details to come. He said it is not known why the bus was stalled on the track. First responders were removing the injured passengers through emergency window exits, local media reported. A nearby hospital set up a triage unit at the site to treat the injured, and helicopters were carrying the injured to hospitals that handle trauma cases. (more...)

Martha Williams and Jean Haley, both 97, were found by a neighbor Saturday morning. They were both found outside Jean's home, with Martha face down near her auto in the driveway and Jean's body in the garage. Their causes of death are unclear, although police said "extreme cold temperatures" on the night they fell may have been contributing factors. They were rushed to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence in critical condition, but died shortly after. (more...)

A police chase in Louisiana came to a dramatic end when a truck soared through the air and landed on a parked auto Wednesday afternoon. A pickup truck flies through the end in the spectacularly end to a high-speed chase in the US. "I felt around to see if I was hurt and could tell that I was OK". The storms may strengthen some after they push east of the mountains and high ground to our west. Severe weather is more likely this afternoon as we're looking at the main disturbance moving into our area from the southwest.
