Right now Jose has sustained winds of 40 miles per hour moving WNW at 13 miles per hour. Irma continues to gain strength, and Tuesday morning, was upgraded Category 5 hurricane with winds now to 175 miles per hour. Jose, the 10th named storm so far this season, had winds of 40 miles per hour. It's too soon to know the exact impacts from Irma, but everyone should have a hurricane plan in place. (more...)

Over the full holiday weekend past year, troopers investigated 283 crashes, 43 with injuries. Connecticut State Police have cited more than 500 drivers for speeding and hundreds more for other violations this holiday weekend. Governor Asa Hutchinson authorized the deployment of 1,500 National Guardsmen from Arkansas to head to Texas to help in the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The Arkansas soldiers and airmen will arrive at an area where procedures have become nontraditional at times in the days since the storm hit.
