Peterson among 2 Democrats voting no to impeachment inquiry

Voting buttons in the U.S. House of Representatives chamber are seen in Washington D.C

Freshman Rep. Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey and 15-term veteran Rep. Collin Peterson of Minnesota both complained that the process so far has been overly partisan and is further dividing the country.

In an interview on Thursday with Glenn Woods on the "Wake Up Wyoming" program, the Republican also predicted that the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives will vote for articles of impeachment, but that the effort to remove the president from office will fail in the Republican-dominated Senate.

The elder Biden is a leading Democratic nominee heading into next year's White House race.

Saying that he has "some serious concerns with the way the closed-door depositions were run", Peterson added: "Without support from Senate Republicans, going down this path is a mistake".

Van Drew mentioned he believes the inquiry will "extra divide the nation" without bipartisan make stronger.

"However, now that the vote has taken place and we are moving forward I will be making a judgement call based on all the evidence presented by these investigations", he said.

Two Democrats broke from their birthday celebration and voted against the resolution the Dwelling handed Thursday formalizing the procedures of the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.

The House resolution marks an attempt by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to silence protests from Republicans who have criticized the impeachment inquiry, likening it to a sham because it has been conducted largely outside the view of the public.

Congresswoman Angie Craig, who represents Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District, voted in favor of proceeding with the impeachment inquiry.

Democrats say the request and other actions by the administration to push Ukraine to investigate the former vice president and his family amounted to a quid pro quo for important military aid for Ukraine, providing sufficient grounds for impeachment. The vote also followed a whistleblower complaint about Trump's phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but Democrats had passed a resolution early in September setting impeachment parameters before the whistleblower complaint was made public. But it reflects his sprawling district, which covers all or part of eight counties in southern New Jersey and includes Atlantic City and some Philadelphia suburbs. Not a single Republican voted yes. Trump won her district by one point in 2016, but she beat Republican incumbent Jason Lewis by six points in the 2018 election.

Rep. McCarthy said that Democrats do not "trust the American people to have the choice" over who to vote for during the 2020 presidential election because they want to impeach President Donald Trump instead. Safe. Justin Amash of MI, who is an neutral and left the Republican birthday celebration earlier this yr, voted in prefer.
