The 65-year-old actor proposed to girlfriend Laura Savoie, 26, after several months of dating, the star confirmed to Extra over the weekend. The duo was first pictured in May this year before they flew off to enjoy a romantic trip to Italy together over the summer.

Dennis Quaid and his younger girlfriend Laura Savoie are on the road to marriage.

"I had the ring in my pocket", gushed Quaid to the outlet.

"She was actually taking a selfie of us, and I put the ring in front and said, 'Will you marry me?' - and then she fell down", Quaid revealed. According to the report, the photo was taken last Friday (October 18) a few moments right after Savoie said yes to the actor at the Turtle Bay, Oahu. "It was very much a surprise".

Sunday evening saw the pair make their first red carpet appearance at the Midway special screening in Hawaii.

It was reported on Saturday that Dennis had popped the question to the 26-year-old old, just five months after going public.

Dennis and Kimberly were first married in 2004 before they officially called it quits in 2016.

"After careful consideration, we have chose to end our 12-year marriage", the pair, who share two 8-year-old twins, Thomas and Zoe, said. The blonde beauty is now worked towards her accounting at the University of Texas at Austin.

Prior to the final split, the pair had previously separated and filed for divorce in 2012 and 2013. They share 11-year-old twins Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace.

While Savoie previously dated "Entourage" actor Jeremy Piven as an undergraduate student at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Quaid has had multiple longterm relationships leading up to his current engagement.

Laura's a grad student at the University of Texas.

This would be Dennis' fourth marriage - he's been hitched to Kimberly Quaid, Meg Ryan and P.J. Soles, and had children with the former two women. However, they split later on, and Dennis went on to marry again - this time with Meg Ryan in 1991.
