Bill Belichick says 'I always felt I was truthful' with Demaryius Thomas

It sounds like Belichick promised Thomas a roster spot when he cut him on August 31, with the intention of re-signing him after moving rookie N'Keal Harry to injured reserve.

New England announced the moves on Tuesday. It also doesn't appear that Bennett will be participating in New England's Week 8 road game against the New York Jets on "Monday Night Football".

Aug 29, 2019; Foxborough, MA: New England Patriots wide receiver Demaryius Thomas carries the ball for yards during the first half against the New York Giants at Gillette Stadium. Thomas said Belichick told him they no longer had room for him on the roster after signing Brown.

The 31-year-old Thomas, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, told the Daily News that he appreciates that the Patriots allowed him to recover from a torn Achilles he suffered in December with the Houston Texans and said New England is "doing a hell of a job" this season.

"It was insulting, for sure", Thomas said. Two weeks later, I was gone. A star player on the New England Patriots is shipped out on a moment's notice by coach Bill Belichick who feels the move can better the team.

"They took a chance to bring me in and helped me get healthy".

Belichick didn't have any more to say about that possibility. "I have a ton of respect for him. So, it's like, 'Why did I waste my time?' Because at the end of the day, it was kind of a waste of time for me".

Tomlinson was on the Giants' 53-man roster for the first three games of the season, after he was released by the Jets this summer on roster cutdown day.

Thomas described what he thinks was a lack of good faith on the part of the Patriots after the team initially cut him from the roster after preseason. Our circumstances changed a couple times in that period leading up to when he was traded so I felt like I was always truthful with him, but things change and therefore what I said was not the same as what I said previously. "But I chose to stay".

The decline continued last week against the Giants where Bennett played just 22% of defensive snaps (11 total snaps) in the game.
