But the left-leaning New Democrats (NDP) are gaining and could end up with the balance of power.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said Sunday he will do "whatever it takes" to keep the Conservatives from assuming power, including forming a coalition government with Justin Trudeau's Liberals. He said only the Liberals can form that progressive government.
"The progressive opposition couldn't prevent Stephen Harper's cuts". "Only a Conservative majority government can stop Trudeau and the NDP from ganging up together to take even more money out of your pockets".
When asked if that could hurt Liberal candidates in Windsor where NDP voters may stick with the NDP MPs here, Trudeau went back to talking about NAFTA, saying voters are concerned the Singh would reopen NAFTA.
Conservatives "feel personal attacks and lying to Canadians is the only way they can get elected", Trudeau said.
"I want to be your prime minister. Don't settle for less". He said history has made clear that voting for the NDP can't stop Conservatives.
"I hope he's encouraging people to vote for me", Mr. Singh joked.
"Do we give in to the polarization and the fear and the division and the misinformation being spread online, or do we continue to move forward, pushing back against Conservative cuts and choose a progressive government that is going to continue investing in people and continue fighting climate change", he said.
One week out from the election, support for the NDP is rising quickly, and Leader Jagmeet Singh is spending another day campaigning in Vancouver. He will then make his way Trois-Rivières, Saint-Marc-sur-Richelieu and La Prairie, where he will outline his priorities for Quebec. We are going to fight a Conservative government.
"I think it's very clear that Canadians are anxious about what a Conservative government would do". The majority of Canadians don't vote Conservative.
Trudeau said the Liberal government made significant investments in the Windsor area, stood up to USA president Donald Trump and punitive steel and aluminum tariffs, and secured a good trade deal with the United States.
"This will not change at all how I campaign", Trudeau said. Her late husband, Bob Kenny, was honorary campaign chair in 2015 but died before the election.
He says the Liberals would also improve access to mental health services and home care for the elderly, and establish a pharmacare program to provide cost-effective access to critical medications.
Justin Trudeau will be in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on Tuesday. He will finish his day with a rally at a farmers market in Halifax.
All the parties were focused over the Thanksgiving weekend on getting out their voters, with four days of advance polls from Friday through Monday. Support for the NDP and Bloc Quebecois is continuing to tick upwards, keeping both the Liberals and Conservatives from pulling ahead into first place.
The poll was sponsored by The Globe and Mail and CTV, with a total of 1,200 Canadians surveyed from October 11 to October 13.
