Royal couple to meet Prime Minister, President today

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge meet with Naughty Boy during a special event hosted by the Aga Khan ahead of their official visit to Pakistan

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton are en route to Islamabad and are expected to land late Monday. The open-toed silhouette was ideal for showing off the duchess' red pedicure.

A guard of honour was presented to Prince William and Kate Middleton as they reached Pakistan.

Arriving at the Islamabad Mannequin Faculty for Girls, Kate regarded spruce in a blue kurta and scarf by local dressmaker Maheen Khan.

They will be taking part in a five-day tour of the country.

Former worldwide cricketer Imran Khan was a friend of Diana, Princess of Wales - who visited a cancer hospital in Lahore as a guest of him and his then wife, Jemima Goldsmith, in May 1997, just three months before her death.

For many in Pakistan, nostalgia for Diana has lain heavy over the trip.

Kate wore a shalwar kameez by designer Catherine Walker. The couple were greeted by Pakistan's foreign minister, Shah Mahmoud Qureshi.

Just two days in, and Duchess Kate is already wowing with her Pakistan tour wardrobe!

In addition to Islamabad, they are set to visit Pakistan's second-largest city Lahore - once the capital of the Mughal Empire - as well as the mountainous north and the region near the border with Afghanistan in the west.

He said the royal visit, the first in 13 years, would largely focus on showcasing Pakistan as a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation.

The couple will visit programmes that empower young people and organisations that help ensure they have the best possible start in life.

The royals' trip, some hope, will send out a message that Pakistan is safe and secure for foreign tourists to visit.

The royal couple is due to tour Islamabad and Lahore, among other areas, though their exact schedule has not been released due to security reasons.

Kensington Palace called the five-day tour the "most complex tour undertaken by The Duke and Duchess to date, given the logistical and security considerations".

The National Monument is all lit up, providing a lovely backdrop for the setting of the reception, hosted by the British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew. The last one was by Charles, the Prince of Wales, and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, who spent five days in Pakistan in 2006.

He described the visit as historic and said the visit will further strengthen the relations between Pakistan and Britain.
