Rams RB Todd Gurley (thigh) doesn't practice; day-to-day

Todd Gurley misses practice with injury

Gurley popped up on the injury report this week with a thigh contusion, which McVay said caught the team "off-guard".

Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley's status for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers is "up in the air" after he suffered a quad injury in Week 5, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Both injuries occurred during the Rams' 30-29 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last week, a defeat that dropped the Rams' record to 3-2.

When asked if he expected Gurley, 25, to be available Sunday against the undefeated 49ers, McVay responded: "It's hard to say".

While Jimmy Garoppolo has rightfully earned a ton of credit for the team's hot start, San Francisco's defense deserves just as much credit as well, and will certainly have their hands full trying to keep all of the weapons on offense for the Rams in check. "It's been getting a lot better since the day after the game - always a positive way to look at things".

Though he has been healthy for all five games this season, Gurley has seen his workload cut dramatically thus far in 2019 relative to 2018. After suffering an injury at the tail end of last season, Gurley experienced some troubles during the playoffs and wasn't being used as often or as effectively.

Gurley has rushed for 270 yards and five touchdowns on 64 carries five games into the season.
