Apple May Ditch the iPhone 11s This Year for the iPhone 12

Why aren’t older iPhones getting Night Mode

The new SE could be the Cupertino company's way to appeal to those who want the iOS features, but do not want to pay the hefty price tag for the recently released smartphone. Apple has traditionally pursued the higher end of the market, with those seeking a cheaper iPhone forced to buy last year's model or one of the few cheaper handsets it has produced. At least, that's what some early reports claim, and it seems unlikely that this will be changed for the public release.

Apple has been long-rumoured to be working on an iPhone SE 2 variant. The most significant hardware spec upgrade will be the adoption of the A13 processor and 3GB LPDDR4X. iPhone SE2 will likely increase iPhone's market share and benefit Apple's promotions for service and content.

The decision to offer the flagship iPhone 11 at a lower price than the previous entry level model has proved to be correct.

And Kuo is expecting these smartphones to fly off the shelves - he predicts Apple will sell 30 to 40 million units throughout 2020. A respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has put the phone into the spotlight again now, saying it'll debut in 2020.

Why it matters: At $399 with modern internals, a familiar design and legacy authentication tech, the iPhone SE 2 could be a solid driver for growth for Apple and help offset declining sales in the category.

Despite Consumer Reports declaring Apple's latest iPhone models as its top picks, it said the devices barely edged out the competition. According to CNBC, Kuo revealed in an analyst note that the iPhone SE2 will have a 4.7-inch screen.

This group presumably enjoys the iPhone but is not anxious about having the latest handset - specifically because of the cost.

The powerful A13 processor is designed with augmented reality technology - something the older phones lack. However, the iPhone 8 is still significantly smaller than any of Apple's flagships introduced since then.
