Man Who Played Same Lottery Numbers for 20 Years Wins $60 Million

The shock didn't seem to wear off because Truong ended up taking 10 months to think about things before coming forward with the winning ticket this week. In September 2017, Robin Walker and Brett McCoy, of Peers, Alta., also won a $60-million prize. He said he kept it a secret because he had a lot of thinking to do. The Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis first announced they'd found the long-awaited victor on Tuesday.

The moment finally ended the big question that had been lingering since last October.

Truong bought the winning ticket at Pure Casino Yellowhead, in the area of 124 Avenue and 153 Street.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation said Truong has tied for first as the biggest Lotto Max victor in Alberta's history.

As soon as he saw the winning numbers, Truong went to the store and had the clerk print them - just to be certain, he said. It was as shocking for him then as it is now.

Truoung stated: 'The very first thing I assumed was, "I'm going to be able to pay off everything!" and I used to be completely satisfied simply to try this'.

When he first called his wife with the news, he didn't tell her that he'd won the big prize. 'It's a big one. "I could not believe it!" he said in a Western Canada Lottery Corporation press release.

So he signed his name and phone number on the ticket and put it in a safe. He knew that there would likely be some changes and he wanted everyone to be prepared.

Truong plans to pay off his mortgage and take a holiday, then life will mostly return to normal.

"I don't want to tell them nothing".

"I'm still young. I'm still strong", Truong said. "I'm not sure where just yet", Mr Truong said.

Longtime family friend Don Bishop learned about the win a few days after Truong, and teared up speaking at the announcement Wednesday.

"I've known the Truong family since the '70s and I've admired them enormously". "I'm really happy but still shocked".

Mina added her own thoughts of joy at the unexpected windfall.

"I've known the Truong family since the '70s and have admired them enormously - the hardest working people you'd ever want to meet". He worked. He's a landscaper; my dad's a landscaper.

"This time Lotto Max; maybe next time 6/49", he joked.
