Alex Rodriguez’s Car Reportedly Robbed During Sunday Night Baseball

Alex Rodriguez

He was working for ESPN during the Giants-Phillies game on Sunday night in San Francisco.

The break-in happened while Rodriguez and other members of ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" crew were having dinner at a restaurant near Oracle Park after a game Rodriguez called between the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants.

Rodriguez was in town broadcasting the Giants and Philadelphia Phillies game for ESPN and he left his vehicle on the 400 block of Brannan Street, about three blocks from Oracle Park, sources said.

But The San Francisco Chronicle, citing sources close to the investigation, said more than $500,000 worth of jewelry and other items was taken from the SUV.

In a separate statement, the sportsman claimed police officials had video footage of the perpetrators, adding: "I am saddened that several items that were of a personal nature and irreplaceable with sentimental value were taken".

On July 28, Jennifer Lopez and Rodriguez's daughters interrupted ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball to wish him a happy 44th birthday.

Between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. the thief, who was not named, broke into the vehicle and stole a laptop, camera, jewelry, and a bag according to police officer Adam Lobsinger.

Alex Rodriguez has been targeted in a rental auto burglary, with thieves reportedly taking over US$500,000 worth of possessions.

Teams of burglary investigators were collecting evidence from the vehicle overnight and the department has made the case a high priority, sources said.
