Arsenal eye Coutinho, defenders ahead of transfer deadline

Arsenal focused on signing defender despite offer of Philippe Coutinho loan

The window shuts for Premier League outfits this evening with clubs from England's top-flight scrambling to get last-minute deals done.

Spurs will have to pay a good loan fee if they wish ti bring in Coutinho, and the playmaker is also reportedly demanding a weekly wage of around £200,000.

The Brazil worldwide has reportedly given the OK for a return back to the Premier League.

Manchester United are looking to make a late move for Christian Eriksen, who has refused to sign a new deal. We will see if on Saturday he can play some minutes.

Coutinho moved to FC Barcelona in a £142m deal from Liverpool FC in the 2018 January transfer window following months of speculation linking the 27-year-old with a move to the Spanish giants. Jurgen Klopp told ESPN FC that Liverpool could not afford a deal to re-sign the Brazilian, while Arsenal were never interested, despite reports in Spain to the contrary.

Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla reports Juve centre-back Daniele Rugani has agreed terms with the Gunners, who may initially take him on a two-year loan before paying £36.9m (€40m).

"Arsenal are supposedly the frontrunners to sign Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona this summer". However, the Champions League runners-up seem to be chasing Juventus' Paulo Dybala first-and-foremost, and may not have time to fit in a fight for the Brazilian.

And Tottenham are looking at both Bruno Fernandes and Giovani Lo Celso to replace the Dane, having been tracking the pair all summer, whilst they are also considering Philippe Coutinho - who has been offered to them on-loan.

Spurs are in talks with Barcelona to complete a deadline day beating swoop for Coutinho, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to welcome the former Liverpool player to north London.
