Along with its first foldable phone, the big-screen Note 10, unveiled at an event in NY on Wednesday, is the South Korean tech giant's most important new product planned in the second half of this year to expand its mobile sales.
While the Exynos 9825 is far from being the first 7nm processor, it is actually the industry's first to use EUV (extreme ultraviolet lithography) processing. "With fast, efficient AI processing, the NPU brings new possibilities for on-device AI from object recognition for optimized photos, to a suite of performance enhancing intelligence features such as usage pattern recognition and faster app pre-loading", said the company.
According to Samsung, the Exynos 9825's NPU was designed for the next generation of mobile experiences, from AI-powered photography to augmented reality. Announced hours before Samsung Galaxy Note 10's launch event, the new chip is expected to be part of the Samsung's new Galaxy Note lineup. The GPU remains an ARM Mali-G76 with 12 clusters, same as the Exynos 9820.
The Exynos 9825 is an octa-core processor with 2x 4th gen Custom CPUs paired with 2x Cortex-A75 cores and 4x Cortex-A55 cores. Samsung hinted that the clock speeds are definitely higher compared to the Exynos 9820 chip and this will help smooth out load times and increase framerates in games. It will support LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 3.0/2.1 storage and up to 4K UHD (4096×2160) display resolutions.
It's the same story with the Exynos 9825's camera configuration support. The chipset is said to be supporting download speeds of up to 2Gbps as well.
In terms of cameras, it can drive a 22MP rear, a 22MP front unit, and a dual 16MP + 16MP optics unit is support by the silicon.
