J.J. Watt's takes part in bike tradition, doesn't go as planned

Matt La Fleur highlights Trevor Davis Billy Turner as Family Night standouts

For Texans star J.J. Watt, getting to joint practice with the Packers is easy as riding a bike. Players from both teams rode bikes with local kids to practice, a longtime Packers tradition.

But Watt plans to reimburse the young fan for the bike "rental". "We have purchased a new bike for the boy", Watt added.

He continued, "I mean, that's what it's all about". I apologise for that.

Luckily, DeAndre Hopkins came in at the last minute to save the day and gave Watt a bigger bike to ride.

"It's one of the coolest traditions", he said, according to ESPN.

Over the years, there have been occasions when players and their "bike buddy" become close; earlier this year, offensive lineman Corey Linsley and his wife held a fundraiser for the family of his bike buddy after the father was diagnosed with a potentially fatal bacterial infection.

"The bike that I was using was not equipped for a 290-pound man, and the seat broke off", Watt told reporters in video published by the Texans. The Packers and Houston Texans wrapped up an intense joint practice session Tuesday, highlighted by numerous battles between players over the past two days. Those are the memories that those kids are going to have for a lifetime.

Watt would end up leaving practice early after tweaking his groin.

Thursday's preseason game will be the first time Watt has ever played at Lambeau Field.

Watt was born and raised in Wisconsin, and went to college there, so he remains a legend among football fans in the area.
