Liverpool keen on Adrian replacing Simon Mignolet

Mignolet departs Liverpool ahead of Club Brugge move

Jurgen Klopp is now on the lookout for a new back-up to Alisson and has settled on Adrian as his principal target.

West Ham signed Adrian from Real Betis on a free transfer in 2013, and became a firm number one at the club, even keeping out England global Joe Hart during his loan spell from Manchester City in 2017/2018.

The Spaniard made 150 appearances for the Hammers since joining the club from Real Betis in 2013 so he knows English football well and I think he's an excellent piece of business for Liverpool as he'll be a solid back-up for Alisson.

Is Adrian a good replacement for Mignolet?

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are on the verge of signing free-agent Adrian.

Mignolet, 31, has agreed to a five-year deal with the Belgian giants, ending a six-season stay at Anfield. But the deal ultimately fell through after Loris Karius was allowed to join Besiktas.

After the Reds' Community Shield tie against Manchester City on Sunday, Mignolet took a private jet from Luton airport to Brussels.

Liverpool won the Champions League last season but the Belgium global hardly figured as the English team conquered Europe for the sixth time and finished just a point behind Premier League champions Manchester City.

After snapping up teenagers Sepp van den Berg and Harvey Elliott, Liverpool have now announced a veteran goalkeeper as the club's third signing of the window.
