Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Beta Dates Officially Announced, Includes Crossplay Testing

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Dark Edition Revealed Will Include Actual Night Vision Goggles

The world stood still in the Call of Duty community on August 1 for the highly-anticipated global reveal event of Modern Warfare multiplayer, giving players what they had been starving for. Players are able to mount onto surfaces to watch over ledges across the maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Early access for Xbox One, PC, and PS4 starts on September 19th, with the open beta then kicking off for all platforms on September 21st. But maybe you've got a PS4 and you don't want to wait, so here you go: The early access beta, for people who have preordered the game, will run September 12-13, while the open beta-for PS4 only, remember-goes September 14-16. The second weekend of the open beta will stay open until September 23rd, and Activision has confirmed that this leg will offer cross-platform multiplayer as well, which is a nice touch. Gunsmithing options allow you to change your guns to an insane degree, while the new 2v2 match mode looks to be incredibly good fun. And, that's just the beginning for Modern Warfare fans.

"Our studio goal for Modern Warfare was to create a completely new experience, and the most varied, customizable and realistic-feeling Call of Duty multiplayer", said Geoff Smith, multiplayer gameplay director at Infinity Ward. Here's everything we know about the beta now and how to get in.

We were fortunate enough to attend a preview event out in LA where we got our hands on the multiplayer portion of the game. The game itself arrives on October 25, 2019, so I'm glad that the beta will be here so much earlier. All gameplay modes will also count to one unified progression system, so you should be able to earn ranks, etc by playing any mode.
