Bruce Lee's Daughter Slams Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Bruce Lee faced an uphill battle in Hollywood

Also walking the red carpet was director and writer of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino, who was joined by his wife Daniela Pick.

Inosanto is speaking out just days after Shannon Lee, Bruce Lee's daughter, voiced her displeasure with the unfavorable depiction of her father. For those who have yet to see the blockbuster, here's a small bit of info, minus the spoilers: it follows the life of stuntman Cliff Booth who is played by Brad Pitt.

Lee claims that her father was often challenged and tried to avoid fights. "In fact, he was into boxing more so than martial arts", Inosanto said, adding to a growing chorus of criticism about Lee's portrayal in the movie.

"He is not that sort of person", said Shannon of her father in the film, adding that Tarantino did not get in touch with her prior to shooting the film. "And not someone who had to fight triple as hard as any of those people did to accomplish what was naturally given to so many others".

Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie were all smiles on the red carpet in London.

She, however, praised Moh for his portrayal of Lee but criticised Tarantino's decision to direct him as a "caricature".

A representative for Tarantino has yet to respond to The Wrap's request for comment.

"Then I saw Bruce Lee, and I was like, 'Wow, this guy can kick ass, the girls want him, he is super-strong and confident.' I hadn't seen someone like that before".

She expressed that she was disappointed by the audience's response to the character when she saw the film.

Shannon, 50, said it was very "uncomfortable" for her to watch the film in a theatre as everyone was laughing at her father.

Part of the issue for Shannon Lee is that she's spent a sizable amount of time trying to preserve her father's legacy.

"Bruce Lee broke ground for Asian Americans. He could have achieved the same effect - using Bruce to make Brad Pitt's character look tough - without the mockery", he said.

The final trailer of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was shared by Universal Pictures on 1 August (Thursday).

Tarantino also contributed a recorded introduction to the playlist.

Tarantino has a penchant for revising history and clearly kept that passion burning in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
