Nintendo Switch may get a stealth chip upgrade

The Switch Lite is otherwise a smaller, lighter version of the console you know, able to access the same features and play the same games (aside from the exceptions noted above). The system comes with either Gray Joy-Con controllers or Neon Red and Neon Blue Joy-Con controllers. And the objective of the NSL seems to be to create a lighter, more mobile, Gameboy style version of the switch that doesn't have the console aspect (aka: doesn't connect to a TV) and comes at a lower price point. The Switch Lite has ZERO connection to TV screens, so that means it'll ship without a dock.

The Switch Lite is set to hit stores on September 20. So you can join in games of Mario Kart with your friends. It's a little unusual to see the "Switch" part in its name, especially since this is unable to, well, switch between handheld and TV mode, but hey, it's probably all part of the same naming convention at this juncture anyway.

There have been other Pokemon spin-offs through the years too, usually on Nintendo's major console rather than the handheld. The controller arguably received an improvement, however, as the directional buttons have been swapped for a traditional D-pad design. The Lite will have a 5.5-inch, 720-pixel screen and non-detachable controllers.

Also, unlike the Switch, the Switch Lite is a single unit combining hardware and controllers. All of the colour schemes are markedly more muted than the garish (though lovely) Joy-Con colours available so far.

The Lite is set to release on the 20th of September, with the limited edition console to release later on the 8th of November.

Today, the Nintendo Switch Lite was revealed, ending months of speculation and anticipation from many on what the company's next iteration of its handheld / home console would entail. Without a few extra Joy-Cons, players won't be grooving with Just Dance on the Switch Lite any time soon.

What do you guys think of the price and the features of the Lite?

Nintendo notes that you should check the game packaging to make sure it is compatible with the Switch Lite. It's been confirmed however that save files can be transferred to a new Switch Lite system, meaning early adopters won't have to start all their games from the beginning. However, if you use separate Joy-Con controllers, you "will need to have a device to recharge them, such as the Joy-Con Charging Grip".

One major plus to the Lite is that it will have a better battery life, between three to seven hours depending on the game being played.
