US Billionaire Accused of Sex Trafficking

Alexander Acosta after becoming Dean of the Florida International University College of Law 2009

Financier Jeffrey Epstein could face 45 years in prison after United States federal prosecutors accused him of abusing dozens of teenage girls as young as 14.

None of those people were mentioned in the indictment. "It's miles even said that he likes stunning girls as remarkable as I maintain, and a lot of them are on the youthful aspect".

As you can imagine, more people are reading The Jerusalem Post than ever before.

As we note often in response to news of arrests and criminal charges filed against defendants, Epstein is considered innocent until proven guilty by our criminal justice system - or until such time as he may wish to enter a plea in connection with any of the charges filed against him.

He instead pleaded guilty in 2008 to lesser Florida state charges of soliciting and procuring a person under the age of 18 for prostitution.

Epstein was just again arrested, this time on charges of child sex trafficking.

Acosta has been forced to defend himself against accusations of prosecutorial malfeasance amid renewed scrutiny of his role in securing a sweetheart deal for Epstein more than a decade ago.

According to court records in Florida, authorities allege at least 40 underage girls were brought into Mr Epstein's Palm Beach mansion for sexual encounters after being recruited around the world. "Dinky doubt about it - Jeffrey enjoys his social life".

Epstein first came under investigation in 2005 after police in Palm Beach, Florida, received reports he had sexually abused underage girls in his mansion there. He ultimately served 13 months, but was allowed to spend half of most days at his Palm Beach office on a work-release program, a disposition of the case that the Miami Herald newspaper called the "deal of a lifetime".

He says there was concern that if negotiations fell through, Epstein's counsel could use the prospect of restitution to question their credibility. The 2008 settlement with Acosta's predicament of enterprise didn't provide protection to Epstein from being prosecuted for alleged crimes in parts of the country different than South Florida, and prosecutors in NY direct their case entails unique victims and unique evidence, including a cache of incriminating photographs that were exhibit in a vault in Epstein's The big apple mansion.

Epstein pleaded not guilty on Monday to two counts: sex trafficking conspiracy and sex trafficking. He contends the agreement that spared Epstein from a lengthy sentence a decade ago is binding only on federal prosecutors in Florida, where the deal was made. "It is well-settled in the Second Circuit that a plea agreement in one US Attorney's office does not bind another unless otherwise stated".

Jennifer Araoz, who in a recent interview accusedthe billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein of raping her when she was just 15, asked a New York City court on Wednesday for help identifying his alleged recruiter.

The women were reportedly flown in for a "calendar girl" competition that was requested by Trump, The Times said.

Were Trump and the others aware that Epstein was allegedly molesting underage girls? Rossmiller said no additional indictment was imminent but it was possible "down the road".

Acosta said the attention hadn't changed his relationship with Trump, insisting it was "outstanding".

"The defendant, a registered sex offender, is not reformed, he is not chastened, he is not repentant", prosecutors argued.

"That agreement expressly referred to that federal district", Assistant US Attorney Alex Rossmiller said of the Florida deal.

Epstein's personal address book, copies of which have been included in legal filings, lists multiple private numbers for contacting Trump, his wife Melania and daughter Ivanka, as well as Trump's butler, executive assistant and security staff.

Democratic Reps. Elijah Cummings, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, and Jamie Raskin sent Acosta a letter Wednesday inviting him to testify July 23. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who was among a number of congressional Democrats who had asked the Justice Department to reopen the case.
