New ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil’ Trailer Teases a Battle of Moms

Angelina Jolie & Elle Fanning Star in 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' Trailer – Watch!

Angelina Jolie unleashes her wrath as in the new trailer for Disney's "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil".

Directed by Joachim Rønning, the movie is a live-action sequel to 2014's Maleficent and a spin-off of the 1959 animated classic Sleeping Beauty.

"Love doesn't always end well", she warns, later shouting, "This is no union!" Her distrust of the queen, Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer), results in further friction. And on top of all that, this trailer reveals that the film also aims to dig deeper into Maleficent's origin story.

Not too long after the release of 2014's Maleficent, someone concocted a cosplay-rap battle between Angelina Jolie's horned fairy and Emilia Clarke's Mother of Dragons. She finally said yes, but times have changed.

Oscar and three-time Golden Globe victor Angelina Jolie (Girl, Interrupted, Wanted) and Elle Fanning (The Beguiled, Super 8) reprise their roles as the dark fairy Maleficent and Princess Aurora, respectively, two characters from the studio's animated classic Sleeping Beauty, whose untold story was previously brought to life on screen in 2014's Maleficent. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished.

This doesn't bode well for the still-brewing animosity between the fairies of the woods and the world of men.

Additionally, the film's official boilerplate teases how Aurora and Phillip's wedding, which was meant to unite two worlds, actually results in a Great War.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil hits theaters nationwide on October 18.
