Health officials in Marion and Hamilton counties said Tuesday they've found such mosquitoes for the first time this year.
The health department is encouraging everyone to remove any standing water from their home of property, as that is where mosquitoes most like to breed.
Many people infected with the virus idon't get sick and do not develop symptoms, but when they do, they can include flu-like illnesses or more severe symptoms such as swelling of the brain which can lead to coma, convulsions and death, the department said. Those who develop symptoms will commonly report fever, headache, body/joint aches or rash.
