Wimbledon 2019: Sam Querrey wipes out No. 5 seed Dominic Thiem

Roger Federer is the favorite to win Wimbledon says Greg Rusedski

Harris is now ranked 86th in the world and second in South Africa behind Kevin Anderson.

Playing his first match since winning his 12th French Open title, Rafael Nadal had little trouble in making the switch from clay to grass.

He spoke to KFM on Tuesday morning. "I'm just going to do the best that I can now that I'm here".

Roger Federer didn't suffer a shock exit at Wimbledon in his 2019 opener, but the record eight-time champion gave his millions of fans a minor scare when he lost a set against a player who grew up idolizing him - make that another one. I am feeling good that I can actually walk.

Serena Williams will face off against Italy's Giulia Gatto-Monticone on the 2nd of July.

The 37-year-old American, who if she wins Wimbledon will share the record with Margaret Court of 24 Grand Slam titles, eased through the first set.

French Open finalist Dominic Thiem was humbled as he crashed out of Wimbledon at the first hurdle against US veteran Sam Querrey.

Roger Federer had a comfortable win in the opening round as he defeated Lloyd Harris in 4 sets.

Querrey, a semi-finalist at Wimbledon in 2017, will next play Andrey Rublev of Russian Federation or Cristian Garin of Chile.

"I mean, last year and this year together I played four grass court matches, which is not a lot at all".

He won the key points in the first, third and fifth to prevail 7-6 (7-4) 3-6 7-6 (12-10) 0-6 6-1 in three hours, 26 minutes. I'm so happy I can walk.

They say dress for success, and in Serena's case it paid off - she beat Gatto-Monticone 6-2, 7-5.

Williams injury may have healed but for the former glamour girl of the circuit Maria Sharapova it was quite the opposite.

Federer's opponent Harris has made the 2nd round of Grand Slam just once before so the size of the task facing him is apparent for all to see.

Meanwhile, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, left the plush confines of the Royal Box at Wimbledon to watch a British wild card competing on the lowly outside courts.
