A survivor of the Pulse Nightclub shooting says Madonna's new video tackling gun violence was deeply upsetting and triggering to her, arguing the singer's approached the conversation was all wrong.

In general, gun control activists appeared to welcome the video, with March For Our Lives, Gays Against Guns, and 1Pulse4America all tweeting their support.

The 2016 Pulse nightclub taking pictures in Orlando, which claimed 49 lives, used to be the deadliest terrorist attack in the US for the reason that 11th of September, 2001 attacks.

"We need to wake up", Madonna sings.

The gun control disco anthem shows Madonna and friends in a packed, Studio 54-esque nightclub, when a lone shooter opens fire, killing dozens.

On social media, Madonna urged people to "insist on common-sense gun safety legislation" and directed fans to gun control organisations.

"I understood what she was trying to do with bringing awareness to the topic of gun control, but I definitely felt that wasn't the right way to go about doing it", she explained.

Madonna told Folks journal that she hopes the "brutality" of the video will be a serious warning sign for American citizens.

'This is really happening. "Magnificent, location off then maybe it is advisable to well set something about it", she said.

"I made this video because I want to draw attention to a crisis that needs to be addressed".

Album cut "God Control" has now been placed online, a track that takes issue with America's problems with gun related violence.
