Anthony Davis narrows preferred list to New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers

Celtics quiet as Pelicans set the bar for Anthony Davis trade

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers remain engaged in talks with the New Orleans Pelicans on a trade centered around Anthony Davis, according to a report by ESPN.

If the Knicks were to land their own "big three" players will flock to join a contender that will likely get more press coverage than any team in history.

Though Paul said his goal this summer with Davis isn't to get him to Los Angeles to be James' running mate, he sure made it seem preferred.

If the Lakers are able to land Davis, expect them to be extremely aggressive in free agency to pair another max, or close to a max level wing or point guard to play with James and Davis.

Some have speculated that for a trade to happen with any team, a third team will need to be involved, and NY in particular does not have a lot to offer New Orleans alone (being a team who just finished 22-60 and lost out on the Zion Williamson lottery). The options involving a third team such as Brooklyn, determined to clear salary cap space to bring in two marquee free agents, could potentially bring in Nets All-Star D'Angelo Russell as part of the new core in New Orleans.

"They can trade for him, but it'll be for one year", Paul told Sports Illustrated.

Under new guidance, led by President of Basketball Operations David Griffin, new reports have surfaced about what we should expect in an Anthony Davis trade for the New Orleans Pelicans. "Because we stated intentions: They were ignored".

Despite this, Lakers trade rumors reported that the Lakers are just persistent in getting Davis. It would be one interesting market full of big stars that the Lakers can get and negotiate. But in the event that he decides to walk away and you give away assets?

The Lakers have made Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and the No. 4 pick in the June 20 draft available in trade talks with the Pelicans, league sources say. He could choose to instruct Rich Paul and Klutch Sports to inform suitors he will not sign beyond next season, but the same message of uncertainty didn't halt the Toronto Raptors' 2018 pursuit of Kawhi Leonard. However, the Pelicans reportedly prefer to trade Davis to a different organization.

Check back for more details when we have them.

Davis appeared in 56 games last season for the Pelicans, averaging 25.9 points, 12 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
