Rishabh Pant most likely to replace injured Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan- the man for India in ICC events

In what could be a big blow for the Indian cricket team star opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2019 for three weeks.

"Team India opening batsman Mr Shikhar Dhawan is presently under the observation of the BCCI medical team".

Before the 15-man squad selection for the ongoing World Cup, Pant was one of the frontrunners to get his maiden mega event call-up.

Dhawan was injured by a bouncer during India's clash against Australia on Thursday. However, he didn't field and Ravindra Jadeja was his substitute.

Dhawan has been ruled for at least three weeks. His innings of 117 runs from 109 deliveries, comprised of 16 boundaries that helped India post 352/5 on board. Consequently, no replacements would be called for now. If there is any name doing the rounds, it is Rishabh Pant.

Shikar Dhawan will be missing India's upcoming matches against New Zealand, Pakistan, Afghanistan, West Indies, and England - all these matches are scheduled to be played in June. In the first two games, Rahul had batted at number four.

According to reports, KL Rahul is being seen as a replacement for Dhawan and will open the game with Rohit Sharma in the coming matches.

The further details will be given by India team management at 2 PM UK time which is around 6.30 pm IST on June 11. Mick Jagger, who incidentally watched Dhawan cop the blow from a suite in the Oval, once summed up India's current predicament perfectly in a Rolling Stones song with these words-"You can't always get what you want".
