Stanley Cup Buzzer: Bruins, Blues are going to Game 7

The Bruins play the Blues in Game 6 on Sunday

Following a 4-for-4 performance on four shots in a 7-2 rout during Game 3, the Bruins couldn't figure out the Blues' penalty kills in Games 4 and 5. The Post-Dispatch later apologized for the error, CBS Boston reports. Prior games are far from a guarantee that the Bruins will have the same results against the Blues.

The problem with declaring that Tuukka Rask has played his best game of the playoffs is that it's an overused line.

It would be disingenuous to say that the Bruins are Rask's team - they don't belong to any one player in particular, which makes them such a perpetually unsafe out every summer.

Now, he's presumably in line play in the biggest game possible in pro hockey, Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, when the Bruins face the Blues on Wednesday night in Boston. Shots were 10-8 Blues and scoring chances were 10-6 Blues in that second period. Jordan Binnington has allowed 63 goals on 709 shots and Jake Allen has given up one goal on four shots.

Game sixes during this post season have been very good to both of these team, the Bruins are a flawless 2-0 in game six situations (did not play a game five versus Carolina) including clinching the series against the Blue Jackets.

Of note, the NHL Player Safety Department handed down a one-game suspension to forward Ivan Barbashev for an illegal check to the head on Bruins forward Marcus Johansson.

Also, for the second straight game the Bruins failed to score a power-play goal, going 0-for-3 with the man-advantage.

But Pastrnak quashed any thoughts of a dramatic rally at 14:06 with his ninth playoff goal, and Zdeno Chara tacked on an empty-netter at 17:41. Jaden Schwartz leads St. Louis with 12 goals, Alex Pietrangelo has 15 assists and Vladimir Tarasenko has 89 shots on goal.

"We're going to have to live a bit what St. Louis did today", said Cassidy.

"It got us going in the right direction", said Boston coach Bruce Cassidy. "We've been a good road team".

NOTES: Boston is hosting Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in franchise history.

They played like a team that had been there before, in part, because a few of them had. That will make us confident when we know we're done our homework and it should be good.

An avalanche of goals followed in what became a 5-1 Boston victory.
