While making a guest appearance on Jon Favreau and Roy Choi'sThe Chef Show, Favreau mentioned the time he and Gwyneth Paltrow shot the aforementioned Spider-Man: Homecoming scene together, which evidently caught the actress off guard. Still, it's pretty fantastic to find out that she, very genuinely, had absolutely no idea she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The 46-year-old actress appears in the debut episode of Netflix's new cooking series, The Chef Show, and while chatting with actor-director Jon Favreau, she hilariously admits she didn't know she was in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming.
"It was such a wonderful experience making the first Iron Man and then to watch how important it has become to the fans", she added. Here's how the exchange went. While Gwyneth Paltrow initially stated she was not in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Jon Favreau quickly reminded her of the details of the scene and a seemingly surprised Paltrow replied, "That was Spider-Man?"
"Yes we were. You were in Spider-Man", Favreau repeats. "Homecoming. You were in Spider-Man". In addition to kicking off the MCU by directing the first two Iron Man movies, Favreau also plays the recurring character Happy.
Gwyneth Paltrow: We weren't in Spider-Man.
"I think the movies and the business around them have changed so much in the last 20 years", Paltrow said, explaining the films she used to make - those with an adult audience - had stopped being made.
Gwyneth Paltrow: No, I was in Avengers. "Remember, Spider-Man at the end and Tom Holland's there and you're gonna walk out and do a press conference?"
When he tells her that they were in the film together she looks up and you can practically see the wheels turning as she tries to remember if what he is saying is correct, before finally settling on "No".
