Trump says 'Pro-Life' but favors exceptions for rape, incest

Abortion rights activists seated in the Missouri House react after lawmakers approved the sweeping piece of anti-abortion legislation

President Donald Trump has declared himself "strongly Pro-Life", days after two U.S. states passed tough new restrictions on abortions, but said exceptions should be made for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest.

Staci Fox, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates, said in a statement that "Alabama politicians will forever live in infamy for this vote, and we will make sure that every woman knows who to hold accountable".

In fact, many anti-abortion activists hope that if Alabama's new anti-abortion law is reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court, the conservative new justices will overturn Roe v. Wade, which now guarantees a women's right to an abortion. The Mueller report, which did not find evidence of collusion by the Trump campaign with Russian Federation, was troubling and disappointing, Romney said.

The most recent poll on the issue by the Kaiser Family Foundation, conducted in late April, found that two-thirds of the public wants Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision legalizing abortion, to remain in place.

"Human life has rights, and when someone takes those rights, that's when we as government have to step in", Chambliss said, the Guardian reported. "If we are foolish and do not stay UNITED as one, all of our hard fought gains for Life can, and will, rapidly disappear!" he wrote.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, said, "Republicans are on the march to overturn Roe v. Wade. I think there is something psychologically wrong with these legislators who are doing this", said Kelly Navarro, a nurse at St. Joseph's and a mother of two. Indiana's appeal said lawmakers enacted that provision in response to "the alarming trend of disability-selective abortions".

IN argues that the fetal-disposal provision is consistent with the 1992 Planned Parenthood v. Casey decision, which upheld the fundamental right to abortion but said states have an interest in protecting the life of the fetus after viability. Demonstrators gathered to protest HB 314, a bill passed by the Alabama Legislature last week making nearly all abortion procedures illegal.

A federal judge in MS on Tuesday heard arguments in a lawsuit challenging the state's new fetal-heartbeart abortion law.

Neither make exceptions for rape or incest - only for cases where the mother's life is in danger.

Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio and Georgia recently approved bans on abortions once a foetal heartbeat was detected in week six, and 16 other states are looking to tighten their abortion laws. "We need to pass it through the House and Senate, and I look forward to signing that law when I become president".
