The suspect, Michael Webb, now faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony.
Calzada said the mother and daughter had been walking down the street when a male suspect allegedly grabbed the 8-year-old and put her in his vehicle. Officers determined in what room the car's owner was staying, breached the door and found Salem, Calzada said. "When anything comes up in this neighborhood that's out of the ordinary, you see the citizens of this neighborhood band together very quickly".
Police have said that the young girl is in a "good condition" but she has still been taken to hospital to be checked out.
Michael Webb, 51, is accused of kidnapping Salem on Saturday evening.
Sabatka and her mother were walking in their neighborhood together Saturday evening when the suspect drove up, grabbed the girl, and dragged her to his auto. Her mother was left on the ground in a panic.
"Salem has been found SAFE!"
Police thanked the public for spreading the information about the suspect, which ultimately allowed them to bring Salem home.
"It's a phenomenal feeling", Calzada said during the briefing.
"I'm here to report that Salem has been found safe", Buddy Calzada of the Fort Worth Police Department began a press briefing early Sunday morning. The kidnapping was captured on a doorbell camera (video below), which shows a dark gray 4-door sedan with alloy wheels and paper plates taking off.
According to police, they received the tip from two local church members who were looking for the girl.
The church members who spotted the vehicle and led to the girl's rescue had seen the post on social media and made a decision to search for the auto.
The two individuals who located the vehicle have not yet been identified by police, but Calzada said the police department would like to honor them publicly soon.
