Bell weighs in on Jets' front office drama

The New York Jets fired general manager Mike Maccagnan on Wednesday

Gase also wanted to sign center Matt Paradis and tight end Darren Fells, but Mike Maccagnan, who was sacked as the Jets' general manager on Wednesday, did not.

ESPN reported that Brian Heimerdinger, the Jets' vice president of player personnel, also was sacked as part of the team's front office shake-up.

The Jets are in the midst of serious front office upheaval.

With their GM search underway following Wednesday's firing of Mike Maccagnan, the New York Jets could raid Bears GM Ryan Pace's personnel staff to find Maccagnan's successor. The Jets didn't pick up Lee's fifth-year option for 2020 for about $10 million, making it clear that he was not a part of their future plans.

Although, let's not forget this Gase Vs. Maccagnan gif from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. That, of course, is influenced by what Gase saw in practice, and he knows more than me about it. We have to work through so much stuff and that's what we've got to do.

That could now be a major problem for the dynamic running back after the Jets fired general manager Mike Maccagnan and put Gase at the position in the interim.

For what it's worth, Gase is now the only head coach who has the GM title. The Jets also added wide receiver Jamison Crowder from the Washington Redskins and trade for offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele from the Oakland Raiders. Mosley to a five-year, $85-million deal coupled with the strong play of veteran linebacker Avery Williamson always spelled trouble for Lee, whose matters were made worse by two underwhelming years as a first- and second-year player in the league.

Philadelphia Eagles vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas, who is believed to be close to Gase, could be the man to replace Maccagnan fulltime, ESPN reported.
