Tim Conway dies comedian’s comedian and ‘Carol Burnett Show’ star was 85

The actor is best known for his work on "The Carol Burnett Show" where he cracked his castmates up with his signature deadpan comic delivery.

A six-time Emmy Award victor, Conway died Tuesday at 8:45 a.m.in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Conway is survived by his wife of 35 years, his stepdaughter, his six biological children and two granddaughters.

Conway worked at WJW in the 60s.

Conway's most memorable characters on The Carol Burnett Show were Mr. Tudball, the exasperated boss of Carol Burnett's bored and frustrating Mrs. Wiggins; Mickey Hart, Ed Higgins' (the late Harvey Korman), pal and hardware store righthand man; and an elderly dentist who frightened and entertained Korman's patient character. He joined the cast of the show in 1975 as a regular after frequently appearing as a guest. He starred in live-action Disney movies, including The Apple Dumpling Gang with Don Knotts and The Shaggy D.A. I cherish the times we had together both on the screen and off.

Conway won three Emmy awards for acting on the Burnett show and a fourth as a writer in the 1960s and '70s.

Fellow laugh makers especially are honoring the funnyman on Tuesday, including Burnett, who said in a statement, "I'm heartbroken". Conway added two additional Emmys to his substantial trophy collection in 1996 and 2008 for his supporting roles as Kenny inCoach and Bucky Bright in 30 Rock.
