Kristaps Porzingis involved in bloody brawl in Latvia

Kristaps Porzingis assaulted by alleged Knicks fans in Latvia report

In the video, Porzingis shoved a woman out of the way before trying to confront a group of people off camera.

According to a report from ESPN's Tim MacMahon, the Mavericks' understanding of the incident is that Porzingis was jumped at the club and tried to fight back. "We will provide an update when one is available", the team said in a statement.

Good news for the mavericks is that despite the wound on his head, Porzingis did not suffer any injuries.

TMZ reported, citing witnesses, that Porzingis was jumped by a group of Russian men, who were allegedly unhappy about his recent move from the New York Knicks to Dallas.

He officially signed with the Texan team in January of this year.

The alleged assault is not the first time Porzingis has hit headlines.

Shortly after the trade, it was reported in March that Porzingis was being investigated for an alleged sexual assault in NY.

After the news was first reported, TMZ said that the National Basketball Association player was attacked by "Russians". Porzingis has "unequivocally" denied the allegations.

After the assault, the woman reportedly asked the New York Knicks to mediate a $68,000 settlement in order to pay her brother's college tuition.

Porzingis did not play for either the Mavericks or Knicks last season, instead choosing to continue rehabbing from a torn left ACL that he suffered on February 6, 2018.
