SpaceX Launches Cargo Mission To ISS

The Dragon is a recycled spacecraft this being its second space trip.

It was David Saint-Jacques' very first "space catch".

SpaceX completed the Demo-1 flight of its "Crew Dragon" without humans on board in March. He congratulated ground teams for their help, in both English and French.

Hans Koenigsmann, a SpaceX vice-president was present at the launch site and at some point in time, he left this control post and run outside to watch the rocket as it made its way into the night sky.

A SpaceX Dragon cargo ship making its second flight to the International Space Station was captured by the lab's robot arm early Monday, bringing some 5,500 pounds of equipment and supplies to the lab complex.

The Canadian Space Agency says in a release the seeds will return to Earth a month later, along with blood and breath samples for a Canadian health probe into the impact of living in space on astronauts' bone marrow.

"Dragon is now officially on the way to the space station", the SpaceX launch commentator announced once the capsule reached orbit and its solar wings unfurled.

After docking, the Dragon capsule will reveal its contents, which includes tools for examining the atmospheric carbon cycle, an experiment to study the use of microalgae as air recyclers on the ISS and a tool for studying regolith, the debris usually found on the surface of asteroids and moons.

Because the space station suffered some power shortages, the delivery needed to be delayed for a few days and then at the rocket-landing platform in the Atlantic. It's the only cargo ship capable of coming back intact. The others include Northrop Grumman's Cygnus cargo craft that launched in April from Virginia, two Russian Soyuz capsules and two Russian Progress cargo capsules. This event took place mere weeks before the Crew Dragon was slated to take astronauts to the International Space Station.
