In several tweets, Trump said he had a "very productive talk" with Putin, where they discussed trade, Venezuela, Ukraine, North Korea, Nuclear Arms Control, and Mueller's report. I am not in favor of military intervention, but I- I can just tell you that I listened to o Secretary of State Pompeo trying to explain this President's conversation with Vladimir Putin, and I just don't get it.

Trump said the two leaders were also considering a new nuclear agreement "where we make less and they make less".

In his investigation, Mueller spotlighted Russian interference, indicting 12 Russian military intelligence officers previous year and indicating newly discovered ways that Russia meddled in the 2016 election in his final report.

"We didn't discuss that", he added. "I could go through the list but there's not time in the show to talk about all the things we've done".

When asked on Friday about the call, Trump said he did not tell the Russian president to halt the Kremlin's efforts to interfere in American elections.

In an interview on CBS News' "Face The Nation", the number two Democrat in the Senate, criticized Trump's attitude toward Putin and some other world leaders. Whether you're a Trump supporter or not, one would hope that the President of the United States would stand up to attacks on U.S. democracy.

The call is the first known communication between the two presidents, since the results of the Russia-special investigator Robert Mueller have been published in mid-March.

It's reminiscent of President Trump's performance in Helsinki, Finland where he sided with Putin over the US Intelligence Community. Putin also told Trump that the new leadership in Ukraine should take steps to solve the Ukrainian crisis, the Kremlin said. Russian Federation is supporting President Nicolás Maduro over USA -backed opposition leader Juan Guaidó.

On Friday, Trump told reporters at the White House that Putin had assured him Moscow isn't seeking to "get involved" in the crisis in Venezuela, despite assertions by the USA president's top national security advisers that the Kremlin is offering critical support to Nicolas Maduro's regime. "It was a very positive conversation", Trump said. Russian state television described it as a witch hunt orchestrated by the USA political establishment to punish Trump for seeking to improve ties with Russia. He actually sort of smiled when he said something to the effect that 'it started off as a mountain and it ended up being a mouse.

Despite constant scandal-mongering from the liberal press, the Mueller report found that there was no collusion between Trump and the Russian government.

Mr Trump continued to put forward his narrative that the investigation was "a witch-hunt". But I guess in Trump's case, it's completely fine if those attacks benefit him politically.
