Eric Bailly Ruled Out Of Final Two Matches And African Nations Cup

Eric Bailly

The Ivory Coast was handed a rare starting spot for the visit of their top-four rivals Chelsea FC at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

After Marcus Rashford was forced off with a shoulder problem, Eric Bailly soon followed suit.

And, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last night revealed that Bailly was likely to miss the remainder of the campaign, a full diagnosis of the 25-year-old's injury has since been provided.

Manchester United have confirmed that defender Eric Bailly has been ruled of action for the remaining two games of the Premier League season with a knee injury.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said after the game Bailly would nearly certainly miss the season's final games against Huddersfield and Cardiff and now his hopes of representing his country this summer are also over. The tournament is due to start on June 21 and concludes on July 19.

That was Bailly's first league start since February 3, but now he is ruled out of Manchester United's remaining matches against Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City, the club confirmed on Monday.

The club haven't put any timescale on the recovery but such an injury usually takes at least two months to overcome so Man Utd have also confirmed Bailly won't play any part in the upcoming African Cup of Nations tournament this summer.
