Queen Elizabeth II Celebrates 93rd Birthday

The Queen at Windsor

As The Queen was about to depart from the traditional Easter Sunday church service, the crowd of onlookers outside burst into song. "Wishing you a most wonderful day!"

This year, The Queen's birthday is especially celebratory because it coincides with Easter Sunday - one of the most significant days in the Christian calendar.

The British monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, is celebrating her 93rd birthday today.

However, she did have a birthday message to deliver to "Granny" on the newly minted Instagram account she shares with Prince Harry.

The Band of the Irish Guards will also perform Happy Birthday in honor of the queen on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace as part of the Changing of the Guard ceremony.

She also has an official one on the second Saturday in June each year, which is commemorated with the Trooping the Colour parade.

The entire royal family was dressed in blue, with Queen Elizabeth sporting a baby blue outfit and a matching hat that included bright pink ribbon.

Gun salutes that are traditionally fired in London to mark the Queen's birthday have been delayed until Monday as they are never to be performed on Sundays.

Queen Elizabeth II has reigned over 14 prime ministers.

Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born at 2.40am on April 21 1926, the first child of the then Duke and Duchess of York, at 17 Bruton Street, the Mayfair home of her mother's parents, the Earl and Countess of Strathmore. That being said, her grandson, Prince Harry and his wife, Duchess Meghan Markle made sure to pay tribute to the monarch as well!

In September 2015, she became the longest-reigning United Kingdom monarch in history.

Three cheers for The Queen soon followed, with the 93-year-old monarch recognising the crowd with a wave.
