Festival-goers told to run as fire breaks out at Coachella overnight

BREAKING: Huge fire breaks out at Coachella as people urged to flee

"The water heater for the shower just exploded and caught fire at Coachella literally 10 mins before I got out..."

The first night of the Coachella Valley Music & Art Festival ended in chaos after a mobile shower unit went up in flames early Saturday morning.

Fire officials responded to the festival campgrounds around 2:06 a.m. Saturday, almost an hour after the final performance, CBS Los Angeles reported.

The county fire department, promptly on the scene, explained what happened on a Twitter post. It's not clear exactly what caused the explosion. Officials said one nearby trailer was damaged and another one was destroyed by the flames.

Cal Fire Riverside reported the fire at about 2 a.m. near the center of Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, Calif.

This year's festival, which wraps up on April 21, is headlined by Childish Gambino, Ariana Grande and Tame Impala.
