Allegri confident Ronaldo will be fit for Ajax

Ronaldo

"Ajax are a young side, full of talent and play good football", warned Juventus star Federico Bernardeschi ahead of their Champions League quarter-final.

Meanwhile, Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri shared the same opinion, saying that he hoped to "have him for Wednesday's game in Amsterdam".

Ronaldo suffered a hamstring injury as Portugal drew their European Championship qualifier against Serbia last month.

Ronaldo was rested by the Turin club after his sensational hat-trick against Atletico Madrid in the last round of the Champions League on March 12.

Ajax also produced a memorable comeback in the previous round, overturning a 2-1 loss at home to Real Madrid with a 4-1 victory to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in 16 years.

While the Argentine remains head and shoulders above anyone else when it comes to goalscoring in La Liga this season, mainly due to Ronaldo's departure from Real Madrid to Juve, he still sees himself and the former Manchester United man as the best players in the world.

The Old Lady will be hoping from something similar on Wednesday night, and again the following Tuesday when Ajax travel to Italy for the reverse fixture.

'It's not often that we see a turnaround of the likes we had against Atleti.

Juventus came close in first-half stoppage-time with a clever overhead kick from Mario Mandzukic which was tipped over the crossbar by Pepe Reina.

While the pair, who have each won five Ballon d'Or titles, won't come into direct competition for now following their nine-year battle in Spain, Messi and Ronaldo could well meet in the final of this season's Champions League.

Ajax are chasing their first crown since 1995 and an unprecedented double is also on the cards for them too, as they continue to negotiate a thrilling title with PSV in the Eredivisie.

Juventus are robust and like a physical contest whereas Ajax are creative and energetic.

"I'm more likely to think of an English team, so Manchester City or Liverpool".
