Back in February, Steelers safety Morgan Burnett voiced his frustrations with the organization and wanted out of Pittsburgh, and almost a month later the defensive back got his wish. Last month, Burnett asked to be released by the Steelers after being used in a role he wasn't happy with this past season. No, but the contract is a strong indication the Browns are comfortable having Burnett line up with old Packers mate Damarious Randall as the starting safety tandem in Week 1.
This will mark a second tour in the AFC North for Burnett. He'll compete with Eric Murray, who was acquired in a trade with the Chiefs, and former Packers safety Jermaine Whitehead for snaps. Burnett has recorded 713 tackles, 50 passes defensed, nine interceptions, nine fumble recoveries and forced eight fumbles.
- The Cleveland Browns announced they have agreed to terms with former Orlando Apollos quarterback, Garret Gilbert.
Gilbert, 27, was originally a sixth-round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2014 out of the University of Texas. He has thrown only three passes in the National Football League, all with Carolina.
Gilbert threw for a league-high 2,152 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Orlando Apollos before the AAF suspended operations earlier this week with two weeks to play in its inaugural regular season.
In Week Two of the seasons, he was named the Offensive Player of the Week with a 393-yard, two-touchdown performance as he took down the San Antonio Commanders 37-29. Among them is former Texas and SMU quarterback Garrett Gilbert, who will go into 2019 with a brand new National Football League team.
Now that he's a member of the Cleveland Browns, Gilbert will presumably fight to be Baker Mayfield's backup.
Everton vs Arsenal, Premier League
I want to develop the players here - giving them progress to achieve something at a big club like we are. It is a bad result and not a good performance but we are fourth.
