As we inch ever closer to PAX East tomorrow, Gearbox Software is ramping up the teasers for its Borderlands related project. Some of those characters and the enemies they face may look familiar to players in the trailer, but there are also new faces seen that'll likely be the main cast of the game.
It's a bold and compelling teaser, with a lot of layers and even a secret code hidden throughout the video, as reported by GamesRadar.
Borderlands 3 was first showcased via a tech demo at GDC 2017. Expect any characters who survived Borderlands 2 and Tales of the Borderlands to also return. Everything seems to hint at a proper sequel to Borderlands 2, though the teaser title Mask of Mayhem, and the tag line "Mayhem is coming" could mean something else.
Borderlands 3 is in development for unspecified platforms. When translated, it says "Count the Sirens" which may give fans the conformation that they need that this trailer is indeed for Borderlands 3.
In context: Fans of explosions, insane weapons, and all-around mayhem have most likely heard of or played the Borderlands series. The tech demo did take place in a desert that hints at some of that wasteland-ish ambiance of the original.
