"We were considering making a new Nintendo Switch project", Clark explained to me "and we imagined how cool it would be to have Zelda characters appearing in NecroDancer; say as DLC". However, they claim that they now do not have any plans for a full Xbox Live Software Development Kit, so it sounds like this will be more of a game-by-game basis.
"We are partnering with StudioMDHR to investigate bringing Xbox Live features beyond Xbox and PC to Nintendo Switch", the company wrote in a post for Xbox Wire on Wednesday. "The diversity of indie content we discussed today demonstrates how Nintendo Switch players can find quality indie games of almost any type". The development is at an early stage according to Microsoft and will come to the Switch "in the coming months".
Nintendo kicked off its latest Nindies Showcase in a big way today. While there's no evidence (yet) that Xbox Live is coming to the Switch by itself, it could very well piggyback onto other games in future.
In the end, it sounds like Cuphead on Switch will be a mostly by-the-books port.
Microsoft revealed last week it'd be bringing Live to iOS and Android, offering the same aforementioned benefits to mobile gamers.
But Xbox Live is one thing. What's more, the game is available for pre-purchase starting today for: $19.99 Dollars, $25.99 CAD, £16.99, and 19,99€. Interestingly, Nintendno announced "Cuphead" will have Xbox Live support, too.
Even more surprising is the fact that Cuphead's release is right around the corner.
