Redmi 7 with Android 9 Pie officially announced for Rs. 7,000

Xiaomi Poco F2 Geekbench listing with Snapdragon 855 and Android Q spotted

For the front, the smartphone has an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling with features like AI beauty and AI face unlock. The Redmi 7 phone comes in three variants (2GB, 3GB & 4GB) whereas Redmi Note 7 Pro is launched as a sole variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage capacity.

Xiaomi has always kept the price of Redmi series phones lower than the Redmi Note series devices and the trend follows with Redmi 7 and Redmi Note 7 smartphones.

Redmi 7 has dual rear camera setup with a combination of 12-megapixel primary sensor with LED Flash, 1.12um pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, a secondary sensor of 2-megapixel. At the moment, it's unknown when Xiaomi will be launching the Redmi 7 in India, but when it arrives the Indian shores, it will take on the likes of Asus Zenfone Max M2 and Honor 8C smartphones.

The move to let go of Redmi as an independent brand does make sense as the brand was saddled with the responsibility of churning out budget devices. Thankfully, the Chinese company has added Gorilla Glass 5 protection to the screen. The TENAA listing also listed an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, fingerprint sensor, and a proximity sensor.

Another major highlight of the Redmi 7 is its 4,000mAh battery and Xiaomi claims this results in standby of 400 hours. The 4GB variant of the Redmi Note 7 Pro, on the other hand, was not mentioned at the event so it is safe to assume that the version is now exclusive to India. The 3GB and 4GB RAM variants of the Redmi 7 are priced at CNY 799 and CNY 999 respectively. The Black colored AirDots will be available for purchase starting from April 5 in China. It measures 158.65 x 76.43 x 8.47mm and the weight is 180 grams. The company has also unveiled a new product called the Redmi Automatic Top-Loading Washing Machine 1A. Apart from offering washing and drying in the same cylinder, the washing machine also supports a self-cleaning functionality.

Coming to the pricing, the base variant of the Redmi 7 - 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM costs CNY 699 (around Rs 7000).
