Manchester United and PSG charged for crowd trouble during Champions League clash

Angel di Maria takes big swipe at Man Utd- ‘Thank God I came to PSG

United have been charged with the throwing of objects by fans and blocking of stairways.

Di Maria required some treatment before returning to the field of play and footage picked up his gesture to the crowd upon his return.

PSG superstar Angel Di Maria has blamed Louis van Gaal for his nightmarish stay at Manchester United during the 2014-15 campaign.

The United man did manage to get away from the Brazilian midway through the first half and impressively breezed past PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe on the right touchline - but his cross was too near to veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. He showed no lack of desire in getting to the ball but it was noticeable that he was often being shadowed by Marquinhos whenever United were in possession, a clear sign of PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel attempting to shackle the World Cup victor.

Paul Pogba was also sent off late on to complicate matters further for United, who will now be without him for the second leg.

United must be wary that their former flop doesn't come back to haunt them on a night that means so much to the club - because di Maria will be ready to bite the hand that used to feed him. One user commented that the player had "turned Old Trafford into a pub".

Di Maria's Old Trafford return was filled with drama and controversy. He had a hard time in the first half, the guy is very competitive.

'I think he was lucky because it was not necessary, ' said Tuchel.

Di Maria was more reserved after the game, posting to Instagram: "Happy for a lovely victory".

The former Real Madrid man was woeful in the first-half at Old Trafford, with his major contribution to the match being shoved off the pitch by Ashely Young just before the break. There are still 90 minutes left.
