Opening batsman Colin Munro top-scored for his team scoring his ninth T20I half-century, 72 (40), with the help of five fours and five sixes.

The morale-boosting victory for New Zealand came after being whipped 4-1 by India in the earlier one-day global series.

Scott Kuggeleijn took the Black Caps' other wicket - his first of the series. In between these two dismissals, the Kiwis also got the wicket of a settled Rohit Sharma to tilt the odds in their favour.

Runs came thick and fast as skipper Kane Williamson contributed 27 and Colin de Grandhomme produced a crucial 30-run cameo off 16-balls. However, after that Krunal Pandya and Dinesh Karthik made the interesting with their power-packed partnership of 63 runs only in 29 balls.

Exploiting batting-friendly conditions at a small ground, New Zealand cut the Indian attack to shreds to post an imposing 212 for four in the series-deciding third Twenty20 global, here Sunday.

Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya were trying to score big runs in every ball to help India win, however, a small mistake did lead to the team losing the series.
