Ariana Grande cancels Grammys performance after fall out with producers

Ariana Grande Not Attending Grammys After Disagreements With Producers

Ariana Grande has allegedly pulled out of performing and attending the Grammy Awards over a disagreement over her song choice. The Recording Academy reportedly wouldn't allow Lorde to give a solo performance of a song off her nominated record "Melodrama" at last year's ceremony despite giving a slot to all the male artists up for album of the year.

Supposedly, producers refused to let her perform her latest hit, "7 Rings", which didn't bode well with Ariana, sources told the outlet. The Grammys did not immediately respond for comment on whether Grande would be performing Sunday.

A Grande no-show isn't exactly good business for the Grammys as she's now the reigning queen of the Billboard charts with the number one song in the country, "7 Rings" with "thank u, next" trailing not too far behind.

Variety alleges that "such stipulations were not imposed on other performers at the show". But the 25-year-old singer has made it clear before: she's not a pushover in this industry. They include Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Dan + Shay, Post Malone, Shawn Mendes, Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Brandi Carlile, Miley Cyrus, H.E.R, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Little Big Town, Diana Ross, J Balvin, Young Thug, Ricky Martin, Arturo Sandoval, Katy Perry, Dolly Parton and Katy Perry. Opting to shun the BAFTAs, where she is nominated for best leading actress for A Star is Born, Gaga will be taking to the stage at the Grammys to perform her nominated song Shallow, from the Bradley Cooper-directed movie.

The 61st Grammys, hosted by Alicia Keys, airs Sunday, February 10 at 5 PM ET live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on CBS.
