Porzingis, Mavericks talk coming to a long-term agreement

NBA rumors Rival exec believes Knicks have been told Kevin Durant is coming

Kristaps Porzingis won't play for the Mavericks this season while continuing his recovery from a knee injury after Dallas acquired the 2018 All-Star in a blockbuster trade with the New York Knicks.

After being traded by the Knicks last week, Kristaps Porzingis took to Instagram to write the "Truth Will Come Out".

Other Knicks sent in this deal will play, though: Courtney Lee, Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr.

Porzingis, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 National Basketball Association draft, was averaging a career-best 22.7 points per game before he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during a breakout All-Star season in 2017-18.

He will have his introductory news conference in Dallas on Monday (Tuesday, Manila time). Just another in a long line of Knicks fans' Phil Jackson laments. As the Knicks seemingly smeared him on his way out, Porzingis mostly kept his mouth shut, instead taking the high road on social media.

Porzingis refused to address his departure from NY or rumors he was offered first to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis.

The foundation was in place for Porzingis to leave, as he has been unhappy with management and the direction of the organization for some time.

The Knicks were convinced no team beyond the Mavericks was willing to offer cap space, a young player with upside and future first round picks.

When Porzingis was asked by a reporter Monday if he envisioned signing a long-term deal with Dallas, Cuban responded, "I can answer that for you".

Secondly, all four of the Bucks' starters outside of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo are pending unrestricted free agents.

Asked if that was true, Porzingis said, "Yes".

Porzingis expressed excitement about teaming with 19-year-old rookie sensation Luka Doncic, with whom he has been friends since they were both playing as professionals in Spain. He also was averaging 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.
