Small plane crashes in California, sets home on fire (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

The crash in Southern California set two houses alight

However, the OFCA later clarified that only one structure was involved.

The 1981 twin-engine Cessna 414A took off from Fullerton Municipal Airport about 10 minutes before the crash, according to National Transportation Safety Board Investigator Eliott Simpson.

"It's the eerie, low rumbling sound that keeps getting lower and louder".

A piece of the plane's engine flew through two rooms of her house before landing in a bathroom, she said, and fragments of the exhaust pipe crashed through a second-floor window and melted into the carpet. "The plane didn't hit and scatter, it blew up and hit the house".

Witnesses told KTLA that it appeared that the plane had caught fire mid-air and began coming apart, raining down wreckage and setting the home on fire. The property where the fuselage ended up is about three houses down from the home that burned.

Ambulances stand on place as the smoke rises from a house on fire by the crash of a Cessna 414A in a residential area in Yorba Linda, Calif., Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019. Other photos show a nearby home damaged from debris with a propeller in its front yard.

No other information was immediately available.

Another tweeted: "Pretty sure we just saw a plane crash into a neighborhood".

Across the street, one of the columns of a neighbor's home was collapsed and debris from the plane was strewn throughout the street.
