Nintendo Delays Mario Kart Tour to Later in 2019

Well, you can't leave a good doctor down, as Mario is once again making house calls this summer with a new mobile game called Dr. Mario World. That summer launch is still months away though, and, hopefully, Nintendo will be able to release Mario Kart Tour before that.

For those that have played the original game, getting to the maximum of level 20 is not all that hard.

What these features are, we don't know.

The game has had several remakes and re-releases since, and Dr. Mario is a fighter in Super Smash Bros., but it's never been one of Nintendo's most visible franchises. Yes, the Dr. Mario series is coming to phones. The gaming giant has announced that it's working on an action puzzle game entitled Dr. Mario World with Line Corp. However, the company surprised many when it announced plans to bring Super Mario Run to the iPhone in 2016.

According to The Verge, Nintendo stated that the delay of Mario Kart Tour was necessary "in order to improve quality of the application and expand the content offerings after launch". It's going to be free to download, and it will include optional in-app purchases.

Nintendo Co.'s October-December profit totaled 104.2 billion yen ($956 million), up from 83.7 billion yen a year earlier. It was the first holiday season for the handheld system without a new Pokemon game, which was instead released on the Switch.

Mario Kart for iPhone will operate in a similar way to that of Dr. Mario World.
