'Significant Winter Storm' Possible For Maine This Weekend

The second system is expected to hit Maryland Saturday afternoon, and we could see snow, rain and ice.

Daytime high temperatures are expected to remain in the high 20s or low 30s until Saturday, according to forecasters. Meteorologists predict that heavy snow from the eastern Great Lakes to northern New England is most likely, as well as sleet and freezing rain in the Ohio Valley and Appalachians.

Light snow is expected ahead of the Friday morning commute and accumulation is only expected to reach a half an inch in most areas. The areas that are more susceptible to the snow chances early on will be north of the city, with better chances for mix and even just plain rain from the city on south and east.

Dry to start the weekend with mostly cloudy skies Saturday morning.

Skies are expected to clear Sunday into Monday, but it'll come with an arctic air and frigid temperatures. In Baltimore. we won't see the precipitation move in until Thursday evening.

The latest forecast discussion from the weather service early Thursday suggests snowfall in the region "could easily be 6 to 10 inches thru Sunday".

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for southeast NY and parts of central and southern New Jersey as a powerful winter storm is expected to hit the area Saturday night into Sunday.

Bitterly cold weather is expected on Monday, with partly sunny skies and highs only in the single digits.
