Apple planning to release three new iPhones in 2019

iPhone 11 Max rumored to have a triple-lens camera

The firm's most expensive handset, the XS Max, will feature a triple rear camera and the lower-priced models will be equipped with a double rear camera, sources told the paper.

As the new year kicks off, we already have rumors swirling about the next round of iPhones to come from Apple. Also, rivals, including Samsung and Huawei, continue to tweak the rear-camera setups on their flagships, putting triple- or quadruple-camera systems in some of the newest models. "Beefing up functional value, like expanding camera features, isn't attractive because everyone else is doing the exact same thing". This will be a major upgrade for the XR series and could spur older iPhone owners into trading in their older models for one with a dual-lens camera.

By then, the OLED supply-chain would have likely matured enough that Apple's requirements will be fulfilled.

Looking ahead to 2020, Apple apparently might ditch LCD altogether. Earlier this week we saw the first alleged renders of the upcoming iPhone 11 and today there's a fresh report about it.

The follow up phone will stick with a liquid crystal display (LCD), which is cheaper than the organic LED display on its premium iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

Retailers like Suning and are slashing prices by up to $118 on the iPhone XR, according to Reuters and Yahoo Finance.

China's "economy began to slow there for the second half", Tim Cook said.

The Cupertino, California-based company has made a decision to stick to liquid-crystal display (LCD) at a time when sluggish sales of iPhone XR cut into its most recent revenue projection, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

Apple discourages retailers from discounting iPhones and such reductions are rare so soon after their release, with the lower prices coming just four months after the models were unveiled. It's possible that Haptic Touch will extend to all iPhone models if Apple gets rid of 3D Touch entirely.
